Our Shopping Cart is Really Working | 05/01/2010 |
Well, it seemed to us that all was good with our move to a new hosting company. But, it took a while to realize that our shopping cart was broken for some credit card transactions. The problem was due to a change in the secure communication with our credit card gateway, and it took a while to isolate the issue and solve the problem. We've updated the code to accommodate the new communication method and all is working again. We would like to apologize for the inconvenience and would like to thank you for shopping at tastarsupply.com. |

Power Protection is Worth the Investment | 04/26/2010 |
Our building was hit by some type of power spike or voltage drop last week - we heard a loud pop that came from outside of the building, the lights dimmed for a few seconds and circuit breakers tripped. It took a little while to figure out why the breakers were tripping - they were being overloaded by blown out surge protectors and battery backups. For that few second hit, we lost 5 surge suppressors and 2 battery backups (and we're still wondering about the ones that didn't blow out) - the units were fried enough to trip the circuit breakers that they were connected to.
Luckily, we protect all of our computers and electronics with either Uninterruptible Power Supplies or with good quality surge protectors. We lost about 400.00 worth of power protection equipment from our one minute power malfunction, but we saved thousands of dollars and countless installation hours by protecting our computers and printers. A lot of the businesses that we visit just plug computers into the wall or into multiple outlet strips that don't provide surge protection. From our personal experience, it's not worth short-cutting the protection of equipment that keeps a business in business. |
