The Mini DisplayPort cable is a smaller version of the DisplayPort digital display interface, used commonly with Apple products such as the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, and LED Cinema Display. Various newer PC notebooks such as HP, Dell, and Toshiba have also integrated Mini DisplayPort connections as it's capable of supporting high resolutions up to 2560x1600 pixels.

Note: Although DisplayPort specifications state that it's capable of supporting digital audio, older notebooks from Apple prior to 2010 are unable to provide audio functionality through the Mini DisplayPort connection. A workaround for older notebooks with a Mini DisplayPort is to use the audio line-out port or use 3rd party devices that use USB or Firewire to output audio.
