Performance
Our CPU chart has been compiled to show the the effect that a computer's CPU has on overall system performance - remembering that the other components remain relatively uniform in their performance. As an example, if a computer is primarily being used for office functions, then a basic Core 2 Duo processor will provide more than adequate processing horsepower. If the computer is going to be used for 2D tasks, like working in Adobe Photoshop, then a Core 2 Duo 3.33GHz will perform better than a more expensive Core 2 Quad 2.83GHz processor. If the primary task is 3D rendering, then a Core 2 Quad would be the better choice.
Of course, other factors have an effect on overall system performance - our Proteon Home Pro computer, with a 3.3GHz Core 2 Duo processor and a GeForce 8800GTS video adapter, is designed to provide great performance for 3D gaming. Our Proteon 3D CAD Pro, with a Core 2 Quad processor and a Quadro FX 1700 video adapter, is designed to work well in a 3D rendering environment.
